BACKGROUND
Earlier this year, an employee contest was held at City Hall to draw entries
from City employees for a City Motto.
The submissions were given to the Council, at which time the Council directed
staff to hold a City-wide contest, open to the public.
The contest was opened May 15, and publicity for the contest appeared in local
newspapers and was heard on local radio. When the contest closed on June 15,
1992, over 150 motto ideas were received by the City from the public.
Options:
1. Select a motto from the attached list of citizen and employee entries.
2. Narrow down the list to three finalists and allow residents to vote for
the winner, via a newspaper contest.
3. Have each Council Member select two or three of the ideas and have a
newspaper contest to select the motto.
4. Forget the whole thing.
5. Create a new.motto, not on the list of submissions.
