BACKGROUND
At the Council meeting on October 27, 1992, staff requested that the bid responses to GS 92-93-10 be
rejected due to the inconsistencies within the bids. Staff also requested that Council authorize the
distribution of Requests for Proposal (RFP) to potential vendors, in order to more adequately compare the
proposals.
We have received proposals from eleven vendors. A summary of the proposals is attached. Of the eleven
responses received, six proposals did not meet the requirements. The remaining five are:
Telstar Systems
Precision Technology
First Computer
Consolidated Micro Systems
Wang
Through the end of the fiscal year, the City will be purchasing between 35 and 50 additional personal
computers. The equipment will be ordered in groups of 5-7. To ensure that the City's needs for delivery
and service are met, we request that contracts with both Telstar Systems and First Computer be executed.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the execution of contracts with Telstar Systems and First
Computer.
