SUBJECT: SAN FERNANDO ROAD PHASE III/IV PLACERITA CREEK TO DRAYTON STREET
(PROJECT 91-27) INSPECTION CONTRACT AWARD

BACKGROUND
On October 22, 1991, Council awarded a contract to Security Paving Co. for the
subject project, which provides for the widening of San Fernando Road from 15th
Street to Drayton Street. This. project will require specialized bridge
inspection; and in accordance with the provisions of State/City Cooperative
Agreement, inspectors for this project must be approved by Caltrans. The
,following inspectors have been approved by Caltrans.

It is estimated that the total inspection costs will approach $100,000 which is
less than 1/2% of the total construction costs.
Staff recommends that the inspection of this project be awarded to Mr. John
Drobish. Mr. Drobish is a registered construction inspector and has 32 years
experience in construction of bridges, road widening, traffic signals, street
lightings, landscaping, utility undergrounding, waste water 'treatment
facilities, and storm drains.
RECOMMENDATION
Award a contract for inspection service for the subject project to Mr. John
Drobish. Services to be performed for the fixed rate. In the event that
agreement cannot be reached with Mr. John. Drobish, authorize a similar contract
with Mr. Joseph Dan Geimer.
