HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-06-23 - AGENDA REPORTS - VALANCIA BLVD CREEKSIDE RD (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Item to be presented CONSENT CALENDAR 4!*Anthonv_J._Nisi DATE: June 23, 1992 SUBJECT: VALENCIA BLVD @ CREEESIDE ROAD - (PROJECT 89-12) PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Community Development BACKGROUND On May 14, 1991, Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Intersection Maintenance Service (IMS). Ori Friday, November 8, 1991 staff was informed that IMS defaulted on the subject .project, and IMS's surety, Safeco Insurance Company of America, arranged for the completion of the project. This project was completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Community Development on May 19, 1992 for a total construction cost of $153,520.64. In addition, time was extended to accomodate a change order written to include the construction of street improvements needed to provide a future fourth leg to the traffic signalization. The cost of the added portion of the traffic signal was paid for by a private developer. RECOMMENDATION 1. That Council accept .the work performed by Safeco Insurance Company of America. 2. That Council direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion for the project. 3. That Staff be directed to release the 10 percent retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices as provided by law have been filed. ATTACHMENT Notice of Completion of Public Improvement and Work jjs:663 Agenda Item -..a__ When recorded please return to: Donna Grindey, City Clerk City of Santa Clarita 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 301 Santa Clarita, California 91355 NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT AND WORK NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, California, has caused a public improvement, to wit: PROJECT NO. 89-12 VALENCIA BOULEVARD AT CREERSIDE ROAD TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION to be constructed upon the property hereinafter described. The contract for furnishing of all plant, labor, services, materials and equipment and all utilities and transportation, including power, fueland water, and performing all work necessary to construct and complete, in a good and workmanlikemanner in strict accordance with the specifications, plans, and drawings therefore on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita, for the construction, installation, and completion of the above described public improvement and work, was heretofore made and entered into with Intersection Maintenance Service on the 6th day of June, 1991, and with Safeco Insurance Company of America on the 21st day of November, 1991, and filed for record in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita; that the work upon said public improvement was actually completed on the 19th day of May, 1992 and that the Director of Community Development has notified the City Council that she has made and completed a final inspection of the materials furnished and installed and the work. performed in the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement hereinabove more particularly described and set forth, and has certified in writing to the City Council that all of the provisions of the contract and contract documents for the furnishing of all plant, labor, services, materials and equipment, and the performing of all work necessary for the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement above described have been fully complied with to her satisfaction as required by the contract documents; that final acceptance of the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement above described was made on the 19th day of May, 1992 that the nature of the title to said property of said City of Santa Clarita is as follows -- that is to say, it owns said public improvement in fee except for the right-of-way upon which it is constructed, and that it owns an easement upon, over and along said right-of-way for the purpose of the construction, installation, and completion of said public improvement hereinabove -described and the use thereof after said completion; that the property hereinabove referred to and on which said public improvement is situated is described as follows: VALENCIA BOULEVARD AT CREERSIDE ROAD NAME OF SURETY ON MATERIAL AND LABOR BONDS Safeco Insurance Company of America 17570 Brookhurst street Fountain Valley, CA 92807 DATED this day of , 19 Jill Klajic, Mayor City of Santa Clarita STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES) ss CITY OF SANTA CLARITA) I certify or declare that under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.
