SUBJECT: MAGIC MOUNTAIN PARKWAY - VALENCIA BOULEVARD TO BOUQUET'
CANYON ROAD (S.R. 126, PHASE V) PROJECT NO. 90-21
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
DEPARTMENT: Community Development
This subject project consists of the widening of Magic Mountain Parkway from Valencia Boulevard
to Bouquet Canyon Road and replacement of the bridge over the south fork of the Santa Clara
River. The estimated total project cost for this multi-year project is approximately $9 million.
On January 9, 1993, the State approved City/State Cooperative. Agreement No. 4078. Under the
terms of this agreement, the State has agreed to reimburse the City up to $8.044 million for
right-of-way and construction costs. In addition, Newhall Land and Farm has agreed to pay
$1 million towards this project as partial satisfaction of conditions which were placed on the
Valencia Town Center.
The City received approval from Caltrans on February 17, 1993 that authorized the advertisement
for bids. All other approvals have been obtained, except for L.A. County Flood Control. Staff
believes that these unresolved Issues will be reconciled in time to support construction activities..
Plans and specifications for this project have been completed and are available for review in the
offices of the City Clerk and the Director of Community Development.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the plans and specifications for the project, and authorize the advertising for bids.
