Nisich'Sa>K SUBJECT: PARKING STRUCTURE DESIGN - PROJECT NO. 94-007 - ENGINEERING SERVICES DEPARTMENT: Community Development The purpose of this project is to design and build a parking structure in the area of the existing parking lot adjacent to the existing City Hall. When completed, the parking structure will provide parking for approximately 340 automobiles, with a minimum net gain of 150 parking spaces. Following several in-depth alternative studies, Including proposal options for design only, design/build and design/build with lease purchase option, a design -only option Is recommended. as the most feasible option, at this time. In reaching the conclusions for the selection of this option, staff considered the City's budgetary and fiscal constraints. Proposals were solicited from 48 consulting firms, Including all listed architect/engineer fines located within the Santa Clarita Valley. Thereafter, five firms were short-listed, Including a Santa Clarita firm, for the second round qualifications appraisal process. A total of five firms were ranked, using several criteria forthe design -only option. Some of the criteria employed for this evaluation Include knowledge of parking structure design development and the firm's prior experience on a similar job and scope. The five firms evaluated were ranked in the following order of priority: 1. International Parking Design of Sherman Oaks 2. Gruen Associates of Los Angeles 3. SyArt of Gardena 4. Conrad Associates of Van Nuys 5. Combs and Miguel of Santa Clarita International Parking Design Is ranked highest In this order of priority, and it Is recommended that this project be awarded to International Parking Design. The 1992-93 budgeted amount for this project for design development Is $125,000." Account No. 28.94007-227 has been established for the subject project.
