Harris Y,-;17 SUBJECT: RESOLUTION NO. 93-110, REDUCTION OF THE DEVELOPER FEES FOR FIRE PROTECTION FACILITIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE JOINT COLLECTION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AND THE CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY. DEPARTMENT: Community Development BACKGROUND On April 13,1993, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 93-48, which established a development fee of $.1937 per square foot for fire facilities, the same fee as the County's, as part of the City and Fire Protection District cooperative system for the joint collection of developer fees for fire facilities. A county fee study conducted In May 1993 projects lower construction costs for fire facilities than previously anticipated. As a result of this study, a three percent (3%) reduction In the fire fee rate to $.1876 per square foot for the 93.94 fiscal year was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on August 24, 1993. To match the County fee, the original City ordinance establishing a cooperative system pertaining to the joint collection of fees for fire facilities (Ordinance No. 92-15) does not have to be amended; however, the existing Resolution No. 93-48 should be amended to reflect the lower fee amount. Resolution No. 93-110 coundMeaROSAha Adopted: 9----y Agenda Item: RESOLUTION NO. 93-110 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 93-48 PERTAINING TO DEVELOPER FEES FOR FUNDING OF FIRE PROTECTION FACILITIES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby make the following findings of fact: a. On Jury 14, 1992; the Council adopted Resolution No. 92-152 which established a financing plan to fund fire protection facilities In the benefit area designated as the Santa Clarita Valley, as part of the Consolidated Fire Protection District of Los Angeles County. b. On August 25, 1992, the Council adopted Ordinance 92-15 which authorized the establishment of a fee to fund fire protection facilities. C. On April, 13, 1993, the Council adopted Resolution No. 93.48 to amend Resolution No. 92.152, raising the fire fees to $.1937 per square foot of the new floor areas of buildings. d. On August 24, 1993, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors adopted a fire fee of $.1876 per square foot. SECTION 2. The City Council does hereby determine and declare as follows: a. The developer fee of $.1937 per square foot of the new floor areas of buildings established by Section 2 of Resolution No. 93-48 is hereby amended to reduce the fee to $.1876 per square foot of the new floor areas of buildings. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this day of .1993.
