SUBJECT: SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS CONSERVANCY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
DEPARTMENT: PARRS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
BACKGROUND
In September, 1990, the Governor signed Senate Bill 1885 authorizing two
additional members to. be added to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy
Advisory Committee, one of which was to be appointed by the City Council of the
City of Santa Clarita.
In keeping with this legislation, in November, 1990, the Santa Clarita City
Council appointed Director of .Parks and Recreation, Jeff Kolin, to serve as the
City's representative on the. Advisory Committee. With the recent change in
directorship of the Parks and Recreation Department, it is now necessary to
formally .change the City's representation on the Advisory Committee to the
current Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. All affected
parties concur with this proposed transition, and, at its meeting of January 7,
1993, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimouslyendorsed this action.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1. Endorse the City's change in representation on the Santa Monica
Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee from the former to the current
Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services; and
2. Direct the City Manager to inform the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy
of the transition, suggesting that it occur at the earliest possible
date.
