' UV c 1994 f 'Y 'C,IFIC(L 1RITA We are writing to ask for your support for the reappointment of Wesley Chesbro to the California Integrated Waste Management Board. Wesley spent 16years as a City Council member and County Supervisor before he was appointed to the Waste Management Board in 1990. He was appointed by the Senate Rules Committee after a grassroots support campaign by local elected officials from all over the state. Wesley Chesbro served for ten years as a member of the Local Government Commission Board of Directors. He has been a champion of progressive local government solutions to environmental and social problems for over twenty years. As a member of the Waste Board, Wesley has worked to promote waste prevention and recycling to save money, produce jobs, and protect the environment. At the same time, he has sought to make sure that implementation of AB 939 is not oppressive and overly restrictive on cities and counties who are taking the recycling law seriously and working to implement the law. Wesley also has hands-on direct experience with recycling. In 1971, he founded the award-winning Arcata Community Recycling Center. The Center is one of California's oldest and most successful recycling operations. We hope you will agree with us that local governments have a friend in Wesley Chesbro, someone who understands recycling and waste prevention but who also has experienced the challenge of holding local elected office. We cannot afford to lose Wesley's much needed voice. a Please join us in supporting Wesley's reappointment by writing a letter of support to: Senator Bill Lockyer, Chair Senate Rules Committee State Capitol Sacramento, CA 95814 Attn: Nancy Michael Thank you very much for you; help.
