SUBJECT: EMERGENCY REPAIR CONTRACT FOR CORDOVA MOBILE HOME PARK
Project No. MH 94-2200
DEPARTMENT: Community Development
BACKGROUND
The mobile homes throughout the City sustained severe damage as a result of the earthquake of
January 17, 1994.
In coordination with the State Office of Emergency Services (OES) and the Federal Emergency
Management Administration (FEMA), the City initiated a City-wide recovery process by entering into
an emergency contract to repair the Cordova Mobile Home Park. The City is currently working with
the OES and FEMA to ensure that the remaining mobile home parks throughout the City are also
repaired and provided installation of earthquake bracing.
Because of the urgent need to accomplish these repairs, the City Manager (Director of Emergency
Service) under the authority of the California State Public Contract Code, entered into this contract
with Stark Foundation Systems on February 22, 1994, to be ratified by the City Council at the
earliest opportunity.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Staff recommends that the City Council ratify the attached contract with Stark Foundation
Systems for emergency repairs to the Cordova Mobile Home Park In the amount of $187,050.
2. Authorize the City Engineer to approve contract change orders to provide residents installation
of earthquake bracing as approved by FEMA and DES.
