CALIFORNIA 43015 (805( 524-3)01 October 21, 1994 Subject: HWY 126 SAFETY BARRIERS REQUEST FOR AGENDA ITEM 126 is in serious need of a center safety barrier. I tall the safety barrier and is seeking support from other Cities and the County. There have been 29 deaths on Hwy 126 since 1989, these deaths could have been prevented with safety barriers. With each accident there are also other victims who have been seriously injured. The victims of Hwy 126 are not limited to the City of Fillmore or Santa Paula. All residents of Ventura County and Santa Clarita are at risk when we drive this dangerous road. The safety barriers must be installed in all existing 4 lane sections of Hwy 126 and must be included in all future widening projects. The barriers should start a Booaey Road east of Santa Paula, stop within the City limits of Fillmore and be continued to Hwy 5 at Santa Clarita. within the City limits of Fillmore the speed limit should be dropped to 35MPH, this drop is warranted because of the great numbers of accidents in this area. The safety barriers should have openings at cross roads and farm roads that serve homes. Please call me at (805) 524-3683 and let me know the day and time of the meeting.
