SUBJECT: INTERSECTION OF GOLDEN TRIANGLE ROAD/GOLDEN OAK ROAD -
STOP SIGNS
DEPARTMENT: Community Development
BACKGROUND
Golden Triangle Road is an east -west industrial collector street and would be used as a frontage
Road to Soledad Canyon Road.
Golden Oak Road is a north -south connector street which is signalized at the intersection of
Soledad Canyon Road and terminates to the south at Golden Triangle Road. These two roadways
presently make a "T" intersection, which is not controlled by any traff ic control devices at this time.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority Railroad track, which is also crossing Golden Oak Road, is
parallel and between Soledad Canyon Road and Golden Triangle Road, which are 113 feet apart.
(See attached Exhibit "A".)
There is only space to store three to four cars to make a right or left turn off of Golden Oak Road
between Soledad Canyon Road and Golden Triangle Road, and it is very important to keep the
railroad tracks clear at all times.
The proposed stop controls will establish a positive right-of-way control forthe drivers entering the
subject intersection. The existing striping and railroad crossing legends will also be repainted, and
additional signs will be Installed to prohibit motorists from stopping on the railroad tracks.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution No. 94-20, authorizing a two-way stop control to be Installed at the following
intersection: Golden Oak Road and Golden Triangle Road (Traffic on Golden Triangle Road to be
required to stop for traffic on Golden Oak Road).
Direct staff to have the appropriate signs and pavement legends to affect the stop controls.
