HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-03-22 - AGENDA REPORTS - REMOVAL OF EARTHQUAKE DEBRIS (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: Jeff Kolin SUBSEQUENT NEED ITEM DATE: , March 22, 1994 SUBJECT: Reinstatement of Agreements with Franchised Haulers for Removal of Earthquake Debris DEPARTMENT: Public Works BACKGROUND On January 25, 1994, City Council approved emergency contractual agreements with the existing residential franchised haulers for the collection of disaster related debris, providing residential property owners and occupants bins for the removal of debris generated by the January 17, 1994 earthquake. These contracts expired on March 18, 1994. The City of Santa Clarita and the existing residential franchised haulers have received numerous calls from residents requesting an extension of this program. Residents have experienced further damage to their property due to the 5.3 aftershock of Sunday, March 20, 1994. It is necessary to continue the bin removal services that have been offered through the emergency contracts with the residential franchised haulers. RECOMMENDATION Reinstate the contractual agreements with the existing residential franchised haulers for the continued collection of earthquake related debris until April 15, 1994. counciAreinsten.rpt a�
