CITY COUNCIL TEAMBUILDING SESSION
MAY 14, 1994
The teambuilding session was called to order by Mayor Pederson at 8:38 a.m.
On roll call the following were present: Darcy, Heidt, Smyth, Pederson
At 8:39 a.m. the Mayor recessed the session.
Councilmember Boyer arrived at 8:48 a.m..
The Mayor reconvened at 8:49 a.m.
Flag Salute was led by Mayor Pederson.
The City Manager opened the session by introducing the facilitator, Bill Mathis. He
stated that when interviewing the Council before the teambuilding, they suggested
discussion on items such as: personal philosophies, decision-making styles, expectations
of the Council, Mayor's role, working relationships, method of operating, clarity of
Council direction to staff and responsiveness from staff or lack of, Recovery Agency,
profit stability, Elsmere, safety and law enforcement, and others.
The agenda items discussed were the agenda review, communication strategies that
build effective Councils, philosophy and decision-making, effective Council meeting
procedures/issues, a Council issues discussion and goals and objectives of the Council.
At 3:58 p.m., it was moved by Boyer and seconded by'Heidt to adjourn.
