HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-01-18 - MINUTES - EMERGENCY (2)MINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY CITY COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 18, 1994 Mayor Pederson called the emergency City Council meeting to order at 10:10 a.m. at the Emergency Operations Center in the City of Santa Clarita. All Councilmembers were present. The City Manager briefed the Council since the EOC was activated at 6:45 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 1994. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss an ordinance that relates to chimney debris removal from private property within a certain amount of time and who is to pay for the removal of the debris. Following the reading of the title moved by Boyer and seconded by ordinance. On roll call vote: Ayes Boyer, Darcy, Heidt, Klajic, Noes: None Absent: None Ordinance No. 94-01E adopted. of Ordinance No. 94-01E, it was Darcy to adopt the urgency Pederson It was then moved by Boyer and seconded by Klajic to declare KBET as the official emergency City radio station and to help with getting information to the people of this City.. Ori roll call vote: Ayes: Boyer, Darcy, Heidt, Klajic, Pederson Noes: None Absent: None Motion carried. Mayor Pederson directed the Public Information Officer put together a press release stating the City will not tolerate price gouging; that we will keep the City from a gasoline shortage; that businesses delay their billings for at least three months. The City Manager stated the EOC will remain in the tent in the parking lot of City Hall and will also obtain trailers for staff and will gradually move into the building as needed. The City Manager requested that all people upon entering the building be required to wear a hard hat. The City Manager explained to the Council that upon incorporation, an ordinance was adopted pertaining to emergencies and that the City Manager is given the power to make decisions regarding the emergency. Mr. Caravalho explained he would keep the Council updated on the emergency situation. Ruben Barrera, Building Official, explained the damage of the City Hall building to the Council and stated it is limited entry. It was moved by Boyer and seconded by Darcy to ratify the declaration of the emergency. On roll call vote: Ayes: Boyer, Darcy, Heidt, Klajic, Pederson Noes: None Absent: None Motion carried.
