CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 5, 1994
4:30 P.M.
The special meeting of the City Council was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Mayor
Pederson. All members of the Council were present except for Councilmember Klajic.
The purpose of the special meeting was to continue the local emergency pursuant to
Government Code 8630, which states the governing body shall review, at least every 14
days until such local emergency is terminated, the need for continuing the local
emergency.
It was moved by Darcy and seconded by Boyer to ratify and continue the local
emergency.
On roll call vote:
Ayes: Boyer, Heidt, Darcy, Pederson
Noes: None
Absent: Klajic
Motion carried.
Councilmember Klajic arrived at 4:40 p.m.
Councilmember Darcy explained the McDonald's meal tickets program. Twenty
thousand (20,000) meal tickets will be given free to the families or people in need. Gail
Foy was directed to contact the local press.
Public participation: Jim Gates, Director of Castaic Lake Water Agency addressed the
Council.
The City Attorney stated he had a subsequent need item in relation to the CLWA law
suit. It was moved by Heidt and seconded by Boyer to approve the subsequent need
item which arose after the posting of the agenda regarding the law suit and to authorize
the City Attorney to represent the City's interest.
On roll call vote:
Ayes: Klajic, Boyer, Darcy, Heidt, Pederson
Noes: None
Absent: None
Motion carried.
Council comments: Councilmember Boyer directed the City Attorney to prepare an
ordinance to temporarily prevent mobilehome rent increases because of the earthquake.
Councilmember Darcy stated mobilehome problems and roads (unmet transit needs,
bicycle trails plan, etc) to be discussed at study sessions.
At 4:50 p.m., it was moved by Boyer and seconded by Heidt to adjourn the special
meeting to the meeting of April 19, 1994, and to adjourn the meeting of April 12th for
lack of quorum.
