RESOLUTION NO. 91.173E
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA CONFIRMING EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY IN THE CITY
OF SANTA CLARITA*
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 89-6 of the City of Santa Clarita empowers the Director
of Emergency Services (City Manager) to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of
a local emergency when said City is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and
the City Council is not in session, subject to ratification by the City Council within seven
days; and
WHEREAS, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have
arisen within this city, caused by
EARTHQUAKE
(fire, flood, storm, epidemic, riot, earthquake, drought, energy shortage, or other causes)
on or about 4:30 a.m. on the 17th day of January, 1994: and
at which time the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita was not in session; and
WHEREAS, said City Council does hereby find that the aforesaid conditions of
extreme peril did warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local
emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Services (City Manager) of the City of Santa
Clarita did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within said City on the 17th day of.
January, 1994;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that said
local emergency shall be deemed to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by
the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita, State of California.***

Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita at a regular
meeting thereof, held on the 18th day of January, 1994 by the following vote of Council:

This form may be used by a City Council to ratify the proclamation of existence of a
local emergency, issued by the Director of Emergency Services (City Manager).
*** Section 8630 of the Government Code provides: "...The governing body shall review,
at least every 14 days until such local emergency is terminated, the need for
continuing the local emergency and shall proclaim the termination of such local
emergency at the earliest possible date that conditions warrant."
