SUBJECT: Project Acceptance - Santa Clara River Trail Phase I
Project No. 99-018
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
At its meeting of June 28, 1994, the City Council authorized a contract with Granite
Construction Company for the construction of the Santa Clara River Trail Phase 1. A contract
award of $753,000.00 was available through Proposition 116 grant funds and Public Financing
Authority (PFA) funds specifically earmarked for trails.
Granite Construction Company has completed all project work per the plans and specifications
provided by BSI Consultants, Inc. with the exception of the portion west of the Sierra Highway
bridge, which could not be constructed as part of Phase I due to extended easement negotiations.
This portion will be completed during the construction of Phase II of the Santa Clara River Trail
utilizing remaining funds from Phase I.
This project was accepted by the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department on
Tuesday, April 4, 1995, for a total project cost of $668,405.21.
1. The City Council accept the work performed by Granite Construction Company.
2. The City Council direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion for the
project.
3. The City Council direct staff to release the ten percent (10%) retention 35 days after the
Notice of Completion is recorded provided no Stop Notices, as provided by law, have been
filed.
4. The City Council authorize staff to appropriate the remaining budget from account
no. 28-99018-227 to the Santa Clara River Trail Phase II, account no. 28-99046-227, after
the Notice of Completion has been recorded and all invoices paid.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, California,
has caused a public improvement, to wit:
PROJECT NO. 99-018
SANTA CLARA RIVER TRAIL PHASE I
to be constructed upon the property hereinafter described. The contract for furnishing of all
plant, labor, services, materials and equipment and all utilities and transportation, including
power, fuel and water, and performing all work necessary to construct and complete, in a good
and workmanlike manner in strict accordance with the specifications, plans, and drawings
therefore on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita, for the construction,
installation, and completion of the above described public improvement and work, was
heretofore made and entered into with Granite Construction Company on the 25th of July 1994,
and filed for record in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita; that the work
upon said public improvement was actually completed on the 4th day of April 1995 and that the
Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services has notified the City Council that he has
made and completed a final inspection of the materials furnished and installed and the work
performed in the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement
hereinabove more particularly described and set forth in, and has certified in writing to the City
Council that all of the provisions of the contract and contract documents for the furnishing of
all plant, labor, services, materials, and equipment, and the performing of all work necessary
for the construction, installation, and completion of said public improvement above described
have been fully complied with to his satisfaction as required by the contract documents; that
final acceptance of the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement
above described was made on the 4th day of April 1995; that the nature of the title to said
property improvement in fee except for the right-of-way upon which it is constructed; and that
it owns an easement upon, over and along said right-of-way for the purpose of the construction,
installation, and completion of said public improvement hereinabove referred to and on which
said public improvement is situated is described as follows:

which follows the north side of the Santa Clara River from the Soledad bridge east to the west
side of the Sierra Highway bridge located on the Los Angeles County Flood Control maintenance
road.
