HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-06-13 - AGENDA REPORTS - AWARD SCRIVER TRAIL PHASE II (2)AGENDA REPO Ci(y Man Item to be presented by: Rick Putna CONSENTCALENDAR DATE: JUNE 13,1995 SUBJECT: AWARD CONTRACT FOR SANTA CLARA RIVER TRAIL PHASE II DEPARTMENT: PARKS, RECREATION, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department has completed advertising for bids for the Santa Clara River Trail Phase II. This portion of the trail is located on the north side of the Santa Clara River, beginning approximately 1,500 feet west of the Sierra Highway bridge eastward to Lost Canyon Road. The trail will include a concrete undercrossing at Sierra Highway and a prefabricated bridge over the Mint Canyon inlet. The standard signage, striping, and wood and chain-link fencing will be included. Funding in the amount $1.3 million is included in the 1995-96 budget process in account numbers 17-99046-227, 24-99046-227, and 28-99046-227 for this section of trail. Forty-two bid packages were sold, and nine bids were received and opened by the City Clerk on Thursday, May 11, 1995. The following bids include base bids only. The landscape bid alternate may be considered, depending on available funds, as the project progresses. Rasmussen, Inc, Simi Valley $1,233,841.10 CNM Paving Camarillo $1,243,603.71 Granite Construction Lancaster $1,258,258.00 Los Angeles Engineering Rosemead $1,353,061.00 Union Engineering Ventura $1,389,355.92 Gerstenberger Construction Idyllwild $1,509,385.00 After review of the bids, the apparent low bidder, Terra Cal Construction, was disqualified for failure to list all subcontractors as required in the bid documents. Stevens Construction, the lowest responsible bidder, has a full understanding of the project and meets an bid requirements. The City Council accept the nine bids received for construction of the Santa Clara River Trail Phase 11; 2. Disqualify the Terra Cal Construction bid, and award a contract to Stevens Construction, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $1,153,173.30 plus a 10% contingency for potential change orders. Authorize the City Manager or his designee to approve all documents related to this contract. 3, Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Willdan Associates for inspection services up to $30,000 to help support this project.
