Included in the contract was additional testing to determine if any other damage which was not visible during inspections existed. A specialized procedure called a leak test was performed, and major new breaks were found at both pools.. The engineering fug of Jones & Madhavan has reviewed the additional damage and recommended replacing the gutter system and main drain at Newhall Park pool, and repairing the gutter system plumbing and main drain at Santa Clarita Park pool. The cost for additional repairs includes increases to the original contract of $152,557 for Newhall Park pool, $75,686 for Santa Clarita Park pool, and $8,000 of Departmental savings. The original contract for $157,140 would be increased by $236,243, for a total of $393,383. Staff is currently seeking FEMA reimbursement for all eligible repairs.
