AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: Rir'x pntn�— CONSENT CALENDAR BATE: October 10, 1995 SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 95-109, APPLICATION FOR CALIFORNIA HEALTHY CITY STATUS DEPARTMENT Parks, Recreation and Community Services The City of Santa Clarita is a charter member of the California Healthy Cities Project. The City participates in projects chosen by our own Healthy Cities Steering Committee. Projects include: the Santa Clarita Health and Wellness Resource Directory, Second Edition for use by health- care providers, schools and individuals. Resolution Number 95-109 continues the City's participation in this project in Fiscal Year 1995/96. ZJ 1 �J1 DIC11 '�I.• I II 1' ; M ; Elul \ Resolution o 95-109 PMN:sas PRCO UNCIL\agnres95.111 Adopted: /©o Agenda Item:/ RESOLUTION NO. 95-109 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE FIFTH YEAR OF THE CALIFORNIA HEALTHY CITIES PROJECT, AND FOR THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY HEALTHY CITIES DAY WHEREAS, the Western Consortium for Public Health has initiated the California Healthy Cities Project to contribute to the quality of life in cities, and ultimately the health status of its residents; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita has established a high priority for the improvement and preservation f high quality of life for its residents; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita is a Charter City of the Healthy Cities Project and has actively participated in the Healthy Cities Project since its inception in 1990; and WHEREAS, the California Healthy Cities Project provides assistance in identifying external sources of funds and program resources for projects such as "SANTA CLARITA VALLEY Healthy Cities Day," "SANTA CLARPPA VALLEY Healthy Cities Steering Committee" and the "SANTA CLARITA VALLEY Emergency Preparedness Training Program." WHEREAS, the designation of Healthy Cities Day will provide notice to our residents and surrounding communities of our support and continuing involvement in the Healthy Cities Project by our City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT that the City Council hereby: SECTION 1. Approves the FY 1995-96 Renewal Application for the California Healthy Cities Project; and SECTION 2. Approves the FY 1995-96 California Healthy Cities Project: • Santa Clarita Health and Wellness Resource Directory, Second Edition; SECTION 3. Designates the Director of Parks and Recreation to execute and submit all documents necessary for the completion of aforementioned items.
