HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-01-10 - AGENDA REPORTS - MARKETING FOR SC (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Item to be pre CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: January 10, 1995 SUBJECT: MARKETING SERVICES FOR CITY OF SANTA CLARITA TRANSIT DEPARTMENT: Public Works BACKGROUND Over the last year Santa Clarita Transit has experienced tremendous growth due in part to the marketing efforts of our consultant and the transit division. With the addition of San Fernando Valley commuter routes and the creation of a commuter route to the Antelope Valley, additional marketing efforts continue to be needed. It has become clear that the existing Santa Clarita Transit staff can not undertake the ambitious marketing efforts necessary to increase the ridership of the recently created San Fernando Valley commuter routes, the commuter route to the Antelope Valley, and our local transit service. In addition to the promotion of the local and commuter services it is envisioned that assistance of a qualified marketing consultant would be required to formulate and present a transit marketing plan for the period of July 1; 1995 through June 30, 1996. A consultant would also assist in the design and execution of Earth Day and Try Transit Week promotional efforts which would further benefit Santa Clarita Transit. A request for proposal was released on December 14, 1994 and the deadline to submit a proposal for marketing services was January 3, 1995 at 12:00 pm. Two proposals were submitted; one by Forsf ill Communications and a second by James G. Moore, III, The proposals were reviewed during the week of January 3, 1995, and evaluated based upon technical competence, experience and cost per hour. RECOMMENDATION Subject to City Attorney approval as to form, approve entering into an agreement for marketing services with James G. Moore, III, not to exceed $26,250.
