HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-02-14 - AGENDA REPORTS - RECREATION SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNT (2)AGENDA REPORT to be presented CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: February 14, 1995 SUBJECT: Recreation Scholarship Account DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation and Community Services BACKGROUND On December 10, 1994, a clinic was held for the volunteer coaches of the Youth Winter Basketball program. Videos and manuals were available for purchase which reviewed skills and strategies demonstrated during the clinic. The City of Santa Clarita received 5% of all sales. Various fundraisers in the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department will be held throughout the year and monies will continue to be collected. The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department would like to establish a separate account with the money collected to be used to provide scholarships for participants in programs who cannot afford them. Under the direction of the Finance Department, a: separate account must be established. They have approved the recommendation written below, which establishes the scholarship account for the Department. The recommendation also places money collected from the fundraiser into the accounts which were drawn upon to pay the costs incurred. RECOMMENDATION Increase revenue in account number 01-3641 by $1,057. Increase appropriations 01-9141-230 by $888. Balance of $169 to account 420-2239 for recreation scholarships.
