Nisiek CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: January 24, 1995 SUBJECT: SAN FERNANDO ROAD - LYONS AVENUE TO 15TH STREET (STATE ROUTE 126 PHASE I) STATE/CITY FUNDING AGREEMENT NO. 4159 DEPARTMENT: Community Development BACKGROUND This subject project consists of the widening of San Fernando from Lyons Avenue to 15th Street and replacement of the bridge at the Newhall Creek. L.A. County recently has completed the plans and specifications and is scheduled to go to bid in mid-February 1995. In order for Caltrans to issue the encroachment permit to the County for construction, the City needs to execute this funding agreement. The attached Agreement is a standard Caltrans Funding Agreement for the City and State's duties relating to funding of the project. The City is required to fund $1,465,000 for a portion of construction costs. The Council previously authorized budget in the amount of $1,465,000 TDA funding for this project in Account No. 16-95029-227. The State will bear the remaining cost of construction, which is $2,065,000 and $574,000 of right-of-way costs. Staff has reviewed the Agreement and, in general, is satisfied with its terms and conditions. The City Attorney's office has also reviewed and approved as to form this agreement, subject to incorporation of minor comments. Staff recommends that the Council approve the Agreement in concept, and authorize the Mayor to execute it once it is finalized. RECOMMENDATION Approve the draft Funding Agreement No. 4159, and authorize the Mayor to execute it subject to final approval of the City Attorney.
