SUBJECT: Utility Easement at Newhall Park
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
The Pacific Bell Telephone Company has approached the City and requested a three -foot -wide
utility easement to provide for underground telephone lines. The requested easement is located
on the southwest property line of Newhall Park and will be used to provide service to a nearby
development.
Staff has reviewed the requested easement language and finds no detrimental impact to the
operational and maintenance functions of the park facility as a result of the grant of this
easement. A categorical exemption is provided for this project through the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines.
The City's General Plan policies support working with utility and other service providers to
ensure adequate and safe public infrastructure and services for City residents. This item will
be presented to the Planning Commission at its May 2 meeting to certify its consistency with
the City's General Plan.
The City Council approve the granted easement to Pacific Bell Telephone Company subject to
the Planning Commission approval, and authorize the Mayor to sign the deed of conveyance.
