City Manager Approv
Item to be presented by:
Lynn M. Harris
CONSENT CALENDAR
DATE: January 9, 1996
SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO EXISTING INTERAGENCY TRANSFER
AGREEMENT WITH METROLINK TO ADD COMMUTER TRIPS
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
BACKGROUND
The City entered into agreement with the Southern California Regional Rail Authority
(METROLINK) on November 1, 1992 to facilitate transfers between the parties' transportation
systems. As a result, passengers were provided greater convenience and mobility. For example, a
passenger possessing a monthly Metrolink pass can ride the local Santa Clarita Transit system to and
from the train station without additional expense. The City is then reimbursed by Metrolink for such
passenger trips. The subject amendment to that agreement will make Santa Clarita Transit commuter
routes part of the transfer arrangement. In this case, passengers holding the appropriate Metrolink
pass would benefit from the same "seamless" transfer system when boarding a Santa Clarita Transit
commuter bus to the Antelope Valley, for instance. Metrolink will then reimburse the City for these
passenger trips as well.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the City Manager to execute the amendment, subject to City Attorney approval as to form.
