Newman CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: July 9, 1996 SUBJECT: FY 1995-96 ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL PROGRAM PROJECT NO. 95-040 - BID AWARD DEPARTMENT: Building and Engineering Services On June 11, 1996, Council authorized the readvertisement of the subject project. This project involves the surface preparation and application of emulsion slurry seal to seal surface cracks, stop raveling, improve skid resistance, and increase the useful pavement life of our roadways (see attached Vicinity Map, Appendix A). On July 2, 1996, five bids were received by the City' Clerk (see Appendix B). The Engineer's estimate for this project was $310,154.25. The amount of $516,500 has been budgeted in fiscal year 1995-96. The following accounts have been established to track all costs associated with this project: $516,500 from Account Nos. 16-95040-101, 16-95040-170, and 16-95040-227. The City Council 1) approve the plans and specifications for the FY 1995-96 Annual Slurry Seal Program; 2) award the contract to Roy Allan Slurry Seal, Inc., the lowest qualified bidder, in the amount of $263,744.98, and authorize a 20 percent contingency expenditure should any change orders to the contract become necessary; and 3) authorize the City Manager or his designee to approve all documents relating to this contract.
