HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-07-09 - AGENDA REPORTS - AWARDING BID POOL CHEMICALS (2)AGENDA REPORT r V City Manager App Item to be preszted by: Chris Dast6 CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: July 9, 1996 SUBJECT: AWARDING BID FOR POOL CHEMICALS AND SUPPLIES DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services BACKGROUND The City has budgeted $36,000.00 mi account #01-9105-215 for the purchase of pool chemicals and supplies for the five pools operated by the City of Santa Clarita for the 96/97 fiscal year. On May 29, 1996, the City began advertising bid packages. Four companies received bid packages. On June 20, 1996, bids for pool chemicals and supplies were opened. Three companies submitted bids as follows: Company Location Amount 1. Leslie's Pool Supplies Chatsworth $1,519.83 (partial bid) 2. Pool Supply of Orange County Santa Ana $22,697.86 3. Inter Valley Pool Supply Azusa $23,767.37 Upon consideration, it has been determined that the apparent low bidder, Leslie's Pool Supplies, submitted an incomplete bid package. Furthermore, Pool Supply of Orange County did not include a $37.50 delivery charge per site ($187.50 per week), which over the course of the contract would add an approximately $3,200. Therefore, the true low bid belongs to that of Inter Valley Pool Supply. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council reject the number one bid, Leslie's Pool Supply, as being incomplete and accept bids number two and three, and award a contract to the lowest qualified bidder, Inter Valley Pool Supply, for the amount of $23,767.37.
