SUBJECT: CHUCK PONTIUS COMMUTER RAIL TRAIL
PROJECT NO. 99-029-02 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
BACKGROUND
At its meeting of May 23, 1995, the City Council awarded a contract to C. A. Rasmussen, Inc.,
for the construction of a trail generally located along Soledad Canyon Road between
Commuter Way and Camp Plenty Road. This project was made available through Proposition
C grant funds specifically earmarked for this purpose, and through Transportation
Development Act (TDA) Article 8 funds.
C. A. Rasmussen, Inc, completed this project to the satisfaction of the Director of Parks,
Recreation, and Community Services on January 5, 1996. The original contract amount
awarded by Council for this project was $1,670,124.73. The project was completed within two
weeks of the scheduled date at a cost of $1,667,478.53.
1. The City Council accept the project and direct the City Clerk to record the attached
Notice of Completion.
2. At the expiration of 35 days from the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion,
direct staff to release the amount deducted from the final estimate and retained, except
such amounts as are required by law to be withheld by properly executed and filed
notices to stop payment.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1, The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the real
property and roadway easements upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public
improvement known as: Chuck Pontius Commuter Rail Trail - Project No. 99-029-02.
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is: Soledad Canyon Road between Commuter
Way and Camp Plenty Road in the City of Santa Clarita.
4. On May 23, 1995, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to: C. A.
Rasmussen, Inc., 2360 Shasta Way, Simi Valley, California 93065.
5. Work under said contract was completed on January 5, 1996 to the satisfaction of the Director
of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and was accepted by the City on February 13,
1996.
