Commissioners are appointed by the City Council. The terms of office for the commissioners shall continue to and include the last day of the third month following the City Council reorganization after the General Municipal Election, which is July 31st. Following is the schedule for the appointment process of the Commissions: May 28 Council declares vacancies May 30 City Clerk posts and publishes Notice of Vacancy per Government Code Section 54974. Prospective candidates may pick up applications in the City Clerk's Office. May 30 to - June 21 City Clerk receives applications. Councilmembers Heidt and Klajic review the applications. July 9 Councilmembers Heidt & Klajic submit nominations for ratification by the City Council The City Clerk will administer the oath of office to the Commissioners at the first regular meeting of the Commissions in August, 1996. RECOMMENDATION Council declare two vacancies on the Planning Commission & two vacancies on the Parks & Recreation Commission and approve the appointment process.
