SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE FOR TRANSIT SERVICE
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL EVALUATION PANEL
DEPARTMENT:Public Works
BACKGROUND
The Transit division issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on February 13, 1996 for the operation
of transit services and vehicle maintenance. Proposals must be submitted by April 29, 1996.
Responsive proposers will be reviewed by the Evaluation Panel based upon the criteria set forth in
the RFP. The Evaluation Panel is planned to be composed of two City transit management staff
members, one representative of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, one
representative of Access Services Incorporated, one representative of a peer transportation agency,
one maintenance expert, and one City Council representative.
The Evaluation Panel will review responsive proposers, and interview perspective proposers as
necessary, between April 30, 1996 and May 21, 1996. It is anticipated that an Evaluation Panel
recommendation for award of contract will be made by May 21, 1996.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff requests that the City Council discuss and designate a City Council representative at this
meeting for the purpose described above.
