HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-07-09 - AGENDA REPORTS - LACO TAX SHARING AGMT NEWHALL (2)City Manager Approval —09 Item to be presented by: George Caravalho NEW BUSINESS DATE: July 9, 1996 SUBJECT: LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' CONSIDERATION OF A TAX SHARING AGREEMENT WITH NEWHALL LAND AND FARM RE: VALENCIA MARKETPLACE DEPARTMENT: City Manager Per City Council request, this item is on the agenda to discuss the Los Angeles County Chief Administrative Officer's proposed recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to approve a tax sharing agreement with Newhall Land and Farm in relation to the Valencia Marketplace project. December 14, 1993, City Council adopted Resolution No. 93-163 opposing the Valencia Marketplace. In addition, staff forwarded a technical letter to the Regional Planning Commission commenting on the DEIR prepared for the project. On December lb, 1993, the Mayor forwarded a policy letter to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich citing the City's concerns with inadequate infrastructure and service levels in the Santa Clarita Valley and the ability of the tax revenues generated from the project to eliminate these deficits. The Valencia Marketplace has significant environmental, economical and traffic impacts on the City of Santa Clarita. The City maintains that the County should offset these impacts with a dedication of sales tax revenues to the Santa Clarita Valley. Discuss item, and provide direction to staff for further action.
