SUBJECT: NEWHALL CREEK EROSION PROTECTION
PROJECT NO. 95-034 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Building and Engineering Services
On October 10, 1995, Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Cal Fran
Engineering. The work was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on May 10, 1996,
for a total construction cost of $191,226.80.
The project involves the construction of a 3 -foot thick stone rip rap bank on the western side of
the Newhall Creek between Market and 4th Street to reduce soil erosion and protect existing
homes. Additionally, the project includes construction of two catch basins and storm drains.

The City Council 1) accept the work performed by Cal Fran Engineering; 2) direct the City Clerk
to file the attached Notice of Completion for the project; and 3) direct staff to release the 10%
retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as
provided by law, have been filed.

COPY NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the
right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known
as: Newhall Creek Erosion Protection, Project No, 95-034.
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is: Western side of Newhall Creek
between Market and 4th Street.
4. On October 10, 1995, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to
Cal Fran Engineering, Inc., 960 Enchanted Way, Suite 111, Simi Valley, CA 93065.
5. Work under said contract was completed on May 10, 1996, to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer, and was accepted by the City on June 11, 1996.
