HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-01-09 - AGENDA REPORTS - PURCHASE YOUTH SPORTS UNIFORMS (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: Chris Daste CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: January 9, 1996 SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF YOUTH SPORTS UNIFORMS DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services BACKGROUND The City Council approved $35,000.00 out of account #01-9141-216 for youth sports uniforms for the 95/96 fiscal year. On September 24, 1995, the City began advertising bid packages. Sixteen companies received bid packages. On October 12, 1995, bids for youth sports uniforms were opened. Three local companies submitted bids as follows: Company Anything Goes Daniel's Fashions All American Marketing Group Location Amount Santa Clarita $30,949.32 Santa Clarita $35,491.92 Santa Clarita $36,943.83 Upon careful consideration, it has been determined that the apparent low bidder, Anything Goes, submitted an incomplete bid package which did not contain the required three references. Daniel's Fashions and All American Marketing Group submitted completed bid packages which met all of the City's requirements. Staff feels that it is in the best interest of the program and the bid process to reject the low bidder because the low bid was not a completed, qualified bid. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council reject the number one bid, Anything Goes, as being non-responsive, and accept bids number two and three, and award a contract to the lowest qualified bidder, Daniel's Fashions, for the amount of $35,491.92.
