CONSENT CALENDAR

SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF YOUTH SPORTS UNIFORMS
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
BACKGROUND
The City Council approved $37,710 out of account number 01-9141-216 for youth sports
uniforms for the 96/97 fiscal year. After the formal bid process was completed on bid number
PR -95-96-09, the City Council awarded the contract to the lowest qualified bidder, Daniel's
Fashions, in the amount of $35,491.92. On August 5, 1996, Daniel's Fashions willfully
terminated that contract. Staff feels .that the termination is in the best interest of the
program.
With approidmately half of the work yet to be completed, staff feels it is in the best interest
of the program to award the remainder of the contract to the next lowest qualified bidder as
determined by the original bid process. The second lowest qualified bidder is All American
Marketing Group, from Santa Clarita, who submitted an original bid of $36,943.83.
The City attorney and the City's purchasing agent concur with this recommendation.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the youth sports uniform contract with Daniel's Fashions be
terminated, and that the remainder of the contract be awarded to All American Marketing
Group, in the amount of $16,172, renewable for. up to two additional years at the City's
discretion, for $36,943.83 per year.
