Newman CONSENT CALENDAR 10 DATE: September � 1996 SUBJECT: SAN FERNANDO ROAD WIDENING PHASE II `& V PROJECT NO. 96-036 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Building and Engineering Services On April 26, 1994, Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Reyes -Security, Joint Venture. This project consisted of two phases of the San Fernando Road Improvements Project, which were combined and advertised as a single contract. Phase V of the San Fernando Road Improvements consisted of the widening of Magic Mountain Parkway from Valencia Boulevard to San Fernando Road, the replacement of the bridge over the Santa Clara River's South Fork, and the construction of an undercrossing to connect the City's bike trail along the Santa Clara River's South Fork. Phase II of this project consisted of the realignment of the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway with San Fernando Road from Magic Mountain Parkway to Drayton Street. This project was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on March 13, 1996, for a total construction cost of $1,303,487.61 for Phase II and $4,527,451.70 for Phase V. RECOMMENDATION 1. Accept the work performed by Reyes -Security, Joint Venture; 2. Direct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion; 3. Direct staff to release the retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as: San Fernando Road Widening Phase II & V - Project No, 96-036. 2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355- 2196. 3. The general location of said public improvement is: Magic Mountain Parkway between Valencia Boulevard and San Fernando Road, and San Fernando Road from Drayton Street to 650' north of Magic Mountain Parkway. 4. On April 26,1994, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to: Reyes- Security, Joint Venture, P.O. Box 1489, Sun Valley, CA 91353-1489. 5. Work under said contract was completed on March 13, 1996 to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and was accepted by the City on September 10, 1996.
