SUBJECT: PROJECT ACCEPTANCE - SANTA CLARA RIVER TRAIL PHASE II
PROJECT NO. 99-046
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
At its meeting of June 13, 1995, the City Council authorized a contract with Stevens
Construction, Inc., for the construction of the Santa Clara River Trail Phase II. This project
is located on the north side of the Santa Clara River from Sierra Highway east to Lost
Canyon Road. Funding for this project was available through Proposition C grant funds and
Public Financing Authority (PFA) funds specifically earmarked for trails. The total amount
approved by City Council is $1,778,173. This included $235,000 which will be reimbursed
by the Los Angeles County Flood Control District as result of a prior agreement approved by
City Council.
Stevens Construction, Inc., has completed all project work per the plans and specifications
provided by David Evans and Associates with the exception of the portion east of the
Highway 14, which could not be completed due to construction in this area by Caltrans. This
section of trail will be completed by Caltrans after the construction work on Highway 14 is
completed.
This project was accepted by the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department on
Monday, April 15, 1996, for a total project cost of $1,776,320.04.
1. The City Council accept the work performed by Stevens Construction, Inc., and direct
the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion for the project.
2. The City Council direct staff to release the remaining 5 percent retention 35 days after
the Notice of Completion is recorded provided no Stop Notices, as provided by law, have
been filed.
3. Authorize staff to complete trail construction from Highway 14 to Lost Canyon Road with
Caltrans as soon construction is completed on Highway 14.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:

1. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the
right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known
as. Santa Clara River Trail Phase II Project No. 99-046,
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-
2196.
3. The generallocation of said public improvement is located: On the north side of the
Santa Clara River beginning 1500' westof Sierra Highway heading east to Highway 14.
4. On June 13, 1995, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to:
Stevens Construction, Inc., 530 West Ave. L, Lancaster, CA 93534.
5. Work under said contract was completed on April 15, 1996 to the satisfaction of the
Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services, and was accepted by the City
on May 7, 1996.
