Annually, a request is made by the City Council to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan
Transportation Authority (MTA) for the City's allocation of Transportation Development Act
(TDA) Article 8 funds, Under Article 8 of the Transportation Development Act, cities must use
the County's Local Transportation funds to meet local transit needs. Once local transit needs
have been satisfied, the funds may be used for street and road improvements. The City's
allocation of TDA Article 8 funds for the 1995-1996 fiscal year is $2,626,605.
Staff has prepared Resolution No. 96-41, which serves as a formal request from the City Council
to the MTA that the City wishes to apply for all TDA Article 8 funds available to the City of
Santa Clarita.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council approve Resolution No. 96-41.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF,
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR LOCAL STREETS AND ROADS FUNDS
AUTHORIZED UNDER ARTICLE 8 OF THE
TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT.
WHEREAS, Article 8 of the Transportation Development Act provides that cities can use eligible
funds of the County's Local Transportation Fund for local streets and road expenditures when
the City's unmet transportation needs have been satisfied, and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita has met its unmet public transportation needs through
its Transportation Department provision of public transportation in the City of Santa Clarita;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita desires to use its portion of its allocation of Transportation
Development Act funds for the provision of pubic transportation services.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does hereby
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1: To authorize Steve Stark, Director of Administrative Services, as the City's
authorized signature and designated contact person.
SECTION 2: To apply for all funds available to the City of Santa Clarita allocated for local
street and road improvements.

Code Section 1808. 1, indicating that the operator has participated in a "pull
notice system" to examine driver's records, as specified in PUC Sec. 99251.

for operating purposes certifies that it has met the efficiency standards which
limit cost per hour increases, pursuant to PUC Sec. 99314.6.

such reduced fares are available.
