STREET IMPROVEMENTS; SIGNING AND STRIPING; TRAFFIC

At its September 12, 1995 meeting, the City Council awarded a contract for the subject project
to R.C. Becker & Son, Inc. This project included the construction of acceleration lanes, a right
turn pocket, median closures, median modifications, traffic signal modifications, installation of
one new traffic signal at the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Solamint Road, six -lane
striping with raised pavement markers on Valencia Boulevard/Soledad Canyon Road from the
I-5 freeway to Galeton Road, and restriping with raised pavement markers on Soledad Canyon
Road from Galeton Road to Shadow Pines Boulevard.
This project was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on June 17, 1996, for a total
construction cost of $527,774.50. The total project budget for construction was $750,000.00.
The project funds have a 50% MTA Proposition C match. Funds for this project are available
in Account Nos. 02-95020-227, 17-95020-227 and 28-95020-227. The Memorandum of
Understanding between the City and MTA, which governs the grant conditions, states that
these funds must be expended by June 30, 1996.
RECOMMENDATION
1. The City Council accept the project and direct the City Clerk to record the attached Notice
of Completion.
2. At the expiration of 35 days from the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion,
direct staff to release the amount deducted from the final estimate and retained, except
such amounts as are required by law to be withheld by properly executed and filed notices
to stop payment.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-
of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as:
Valencia Boulevard/Soledad Canyon Road Miscellaneous Street Improvements; Signing
and Striping; Traffic Signal Modifications/Installation - Project No. 95-020.
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-
2196.
The general location of said public improvement is: Valencia Boulevard/Soledad Canyon
Road.
4. On September 12, 1995, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to:
R.C. Becker & Son, Inc., 22422 12th Street, Santa Clarita, California 91321.
Work under said contract was completed on June 17 1996, to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer, and was accepted by the City on June 25, 1996.
