discuss and better understand mgjor issues currently before the City.

7:00 - 7;15 NORTHRIDGE EARTHQUAKE RECOVERY -As the City approaches its
second year anniversary of the Northridge Earthquake, staff would like to update
Council on the progress made by the City in its earthquake recovery efforts.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive and review earthquake project status
update.

7:15 -7:45 AMENDMENTS TO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO NEWS VENDING
MACHINES - Chapter 13.24 of the Municipal Code, which was drafted upon City
incorporation, requires updating because of recent pertinent court decisions and
omissions. These omissions include definition of purpose, requirements for
indemnification of the City, and vendor requirements to obtain a business license,
place identification, and clean and maintain all machines periodically. In
addition, the City Attorney has recommended several changes relating to
abatement, impound, and appeal provisions.. RECOMMENDED ACTION: City
Council review and discuss item.

7:45 - 8:30 SIGNAGE - The City adopted a sign ordinance, which became effective on
December 14, 1990, in order to decrease sign clutter. City staff has been
implementing the sign ordinance for five years and has made considerable
progress in reducing sign clutter and improving the overall quality of signage
within the City. RECOMMENDED ACTION: City Council review and discuss
this matter and bring it back to a future City Council meeting.
