HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-05-13 - AGENDA REPORTS - ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW (2)City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: Jeff Lambert CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: May 13, 1997 SUBJECT: ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW DEPARTMENT: Community Development At the City Council study session of April 1, 1997, the Council was presented with various options for initiating architectural review as part of the development review process. The options included: (1) maintaining the current process of considering aesthetic issues as part of the normal review procedure; (2) implementing design guidelines at the staff level; (3) design review as a separate process, conducted by the Planning Commission; and (4) design review by a separate board or commission. The Council chose option no. 2, above, as the preferred course of action and directed staff to return to the City Council to receive formal direction. Staff is prepared to develop recommendations to be provided to the public to guide the design of future development. Staff proposes to return before the end of the year with concepts and recommendations for the Council's review. Direct staff to develop design guidelines in keeping with option 2, above, and present them to the Planning Commission and City Council for review. s:\cd\current\arcrev19.mar Agenda s;
