SUBJECT: RENEW CONTRACT FOR MAINTAINING THE CITY LAN
EQUIPMENT TO NEOCOMP SYSTEMS.
DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services
BACKGROUND
The City's computer equipment and computer peripherals make up the local area network
(LAN). The LAN consists of approximately 5 servers, 250 workstations and 35 printers. City
employees rely heavily on the LAN and its components to carry out their daily job functions.
As such, timely repair and replacement of LAN components as they malfunction is critical to
maintaining a reliable computing environment. Neocomp Systems was awarded the Personal
Computer and LAN equipment bid in FY 96/97. During their contract period Neocomp did an
excellent job repairing and replacing equipment in a timely and professional manner. The
contract Neocomp signed in FY 96/97 contained a three-year renewal clause. Staff recommends
renewing the Neocomp Systems contract for these services for another year.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the contract for maintaining the City LAN equipment including all personal computers
and peripheral hardware to Neocomp Systems for $20,856 plus a 5% contingency. Authorize
the City. Manager to approve all contract documents and change orders. The funds for this
work are included in the FY 97/98 budget account number 2310-8001.
