SUBJECT: COMMUNITY SERVICES GRANT - SECOND FUNDING CYCLE
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation and Community Services
On January 27, 1997, the Community Services Grants Committee met to review and recommend
applications resubmitted by agencies for Community Services Grant program funding. For this
second round, the City received eight resubmittals from the first funding cycle and one new
application, for a total of $42,167 in grant requests (please refer to the Agency Recommendation
List Summary). The requests received far exceeded available grant funds of $18,800. Although
every application submitted demonstrated great effort, the Committee gave priority to
resubmittals, and funded those proposals which met the criteria of the grant. Agencies are
highly encouraged to reapply for the next year's grant program. The application process begins
in late spring of 1997.
At the last review meeting of the Committee, the Committee received a staff assessment of the
Grant program. Over the next several months, the Committee will work with staff on
suggestions to enhance the program.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council to approve the Grant Committee recommendation of grant awards to agencies, as
outlined in the Agency Recommendation List Summary in the amount of $17,327.
