Brad Therrien DATE: July 8,1997 SUBJECT: SAN FERNANDO ROAD (STATE ROUTE 126, PHASES. III AND M PLACERITA CREEK BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NO. 96-27 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Building and Engineering Services On May 28, 1996, Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Steven Rodgers. This project includes modification of the existing Placerita Creek Bridge barrier and sidewalk installation on the west side of San Fernando Road from the Placenta Creek Bridge to Circle J Ranch Road. This contract work was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on May 23, 1997. Due to Caltrans' permit delay and the contractor's scheduling conflicts, the project completion was delayed for several months. The project was, however, completed under budget for a total construction cost of $92,902.06. The total project budget was $130,216.30. RECOMMENDATION 1. Council accept the work performed by Steven Rodgers Co, on San Fernando Road (State Route 126, Phases III and IV) Placerita Creek Bridge Improvements, Project No. 96-27. 2. Council direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion for the project. 3. Council direct staff to release the 10% retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices as provided by law have been filed. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as: San Fernando Road (State Route' 126, Phases III and IV) Placerita Creek Bridge Improvements, Project No. 96-27. 2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-2196. 3. The general location of said public improvement is: Placenta Creek Bridge on San Fernando Road. 4. On May 28, 1996, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Steven Rodgers, 21558 Placenta Canyon Road, Newhall, CA 91321. 5. Work under said contract was completed on May 23, 1997, to the satisfaction of the Director of Building & Engineering Services, and was accepted by the City on July 8, 1997.
