The Santa Clarita Valley International Program has been actively pursuing formation of sister
city relationships. At the April 8, 1997 meeting, the City Council authorized the Mayor to send
a letter to the Mayor of Aurangabad, India; exploring formation of a sister city relationship.
The local Filipino community has expressed interest in working through the Santa Clarita
Valley International Program to secure a sister city relationship between Santa Clarita and a
community in the Philippines. The attached letter from Mayor Smyth to the Mayor of Pasay
City , Philippines, invites a delegation from Pasay City to visit Santa Clarita in conjunction
with the Sister Cities International Conference to be held in San Diego during the period of
July 29 through August 2, 1997.
