HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-09-23 - AGENDA REPORTS - TDA ART 8 FUNDS 1997-98 (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval l Item to be presented by: Barbara Boswell CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: September 23, 1997 SUBJECT: TDA ARTICLE 8 FUNDS 1997-98 ALLOCATION REQUEST RESOLUTION NO. 97-108 DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services BACKGROUND Annually, a request is made by the City Council to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the City's allocation of Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 8 funds. Under Article 8 of the Transportation Development Act, cities must use the County's Local Transportation funds to meet local transit needs. Once local transit needs have been satisfied, the funds may be used for street and road improvements. The City's allocation of TDA Article 8 funds for the 1997-1998 fiscal year is $3,149,097. Staff has prepared Resolution No. 97-108, which serves as a formal request from the City Council to the MTA that the City wishes to apply for all TDA Article 8 funds available to the City of Santa Clarita. RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve Resolution No. 97-108, approving the application for local streets and roads funds authorized under Article 8 of the Transportation Development Act. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1: To authorize Steve Stark, Director of Administrative Services, as the. CHP CERTIFICATION Claimant filing a claim for Local Transportation Funds has included in the claim a certification completed within the last 13 months by the California Highway Patrol indicating compliance with Vehicle Code Section 1808.1, indicating that the operator has participated in a "pull notice system" to examine driver's records, as specified in PUC Sec. 9925-1. REDUCED TRANSIT FARES Claimants of TDA funds who offer reduced fares to senior citizens certify that: (a) The Federal Medicare Identification Card is sufficient identification to receive senior citizen reduced fares if such fares are available; and (b) A disabled person or disabled veteran identification card issued pursuant to subdivision (d) of Vehicle Code Sections 22511.5 or 2511.9 (whichever is applicable) is sufficient identification to receive disabled person reduced fares if such reduced fares are available.
