Annually, an allocation of Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funds is made by
the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the City's use.
Under Article 3 of the Transportation Development Act, cities must use the County's Local
Transportation funds for design and. construction of bicycle and pedestrian facilities and
amenities (including sidewalk wheelchair ramps). The City's allocation of TDA Article 3 funds
for the 199.4-1995 fiscal year was previously placed on reserve. That allocation of $42,277 will
expire on June 30, 1997. At this time staff has prepared an application for drawdown of these
funds: $36,351 for the South Fork Trail Phase IV and $5,926 for Santa Clara River Trail Phase
IV. Both of these funds have been previously budgeted.
Staff has also prepared Resolution No. 97-15, which serves as formal request from the City
Council to the MTA that the City wishes to drawdown $42,277 of TDA Article 3 allocation.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 97-15, approving the application for $42,277 of
Bicycle and Pedestrian funds authorized under Article 3 of the Transportation Development
Act.
