HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-01-14 - AGENDA REPORTS - TDA ARTICLES FUNDS RESO 97 1 (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approva Item to be presented by: Barbara Boswell CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: January 14, 1997 SUBJECT: TDA ARTICLE 3 FUNDS RESOLUTION NO. 97-1 DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services Annually, a request is made by the City Council to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the City's allocation of Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funds. Under Article 3 of the Transportation Development Act, cities must use the County's Local Transportation funds for design and construction of bicycle and pedestrian facilities and amenities (including sidewalk wheelchair ramps). The City's allocation of TDA Article 3 funds for the 1996-1997 fiscal year is estimated at $53,096. Staff has prepared Resolution No. 97-1, which serves as a formal request from the City Council to the MTA that the City wishes to apply for, and place on reserve for future use, all TDA Article 3 FY 1996-97 funds available to the City of Santa Clarita. RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve Resolution No. 97-1, approving the application for, and reserve until needed, Bicycle and Pedestrian funds authorized under Article 3 of the Transportation Development Act. ATTACHMENTS Resolution No. 97-1 TDA Article 3 Claim Form SS:CMR:hds Benda I��i�w. 5: WIN \COUNCILI RE597d.CMR Adopted: -� � - a � RESOLUTION NO. 97-1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FUNDS AUTHORIZED UNDER ARTICLE 3 (SB821) OF THE TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT WHEREAS, SB 821.provides that two percent (2%) of each County's total local transportation fund be set aside and used to fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita desires to construct and maintain the master bikeway system within their City, utilizing, in part, the funds available under SB 821; and NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1: To apply for and place on reserve, all FY 1996-97 funds available to the City of Santa Clarita allocated for the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; SECTION 2: Designate the Director of Administrative Services as the City's Contact person; SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
