HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-08-26 - AGENDA REPORTS - TREE TRIM CONTR (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approv: Item to be presented Terri Maus CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: August 26, 1997 SUBJECT: INCREASE TREE TRIM CONTRACT DEPARTMENT: Field Services Department At its June 24, 1997 meeting, City Council approved an increase of $50,000 in Contract Tree Trim Account Number 7340-8001 for the Fiscal Year 1997-98 budget. The funds have since rolled over to Field Services/Contractual Services Account Number 5600-8001. Staff proposes to increase the existing contract and purchase order with Golden Bear Arborists, Inc. by $50,000, from $262,760 to $312,760. The increase will be used to prune approximately 1000 additional street trees in the Friendly Valley and Canyon Country areas. The 1000 trees are in addition to 4000 trees the contractor is presently pruning. The increase in tree trimming will reduce the City's yearly grid prune cycle from approximately eight year trim cycle to a six and a half year cycle. The increase to Contract Number PR -96-97-045 is acceptable per the provisions of said contract. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that City Council approve the expenditure of $50,000 to increase the existing tree trimming contract between the City of Santa Clarita and Golden Bear Arborists, Inc., from $262,760 to $312,760, and apply the increase to existing Purchase Order Number 9800065.
