SUBJECT: IMPLEMENTING TV/VIDEO PRODUCTION CLASS (RESOLUTION 97-6)
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation and Community Services
In a School -to -Business Partnership, the City of Santa Clarita and the William S. Hart School
District support and cooperate with the Hart District ROP Program, who will develop and
implement the curriculum for an Advanced TV/Video Production Class. School to. career
transition programs are designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn to be
economically independent and socially productive. The goal of this course is that the students
will achieve advanced proficiency with the field of Television/Video Production, and will apply
the skills and knowledge learned to produce a regularly scheduled broadcast television program
focusing on youth issues and activities to be aired on Public Access. The television and video
production industry is one of the fastest growing industries in Southern California, and provides
a viable career path for students.
The purpose of the partnership is to provide the necessary resources and support for the
TV(Video Production Class. The City is currently providing support from Community Services
and Public Information by providing the students participating in the class with information on
community issues and programs focusing on the youth of the Santa Clarita Valley. There is no
fiscal impact associated with adopting this Resolution.

RESOLUTION NO. 97.6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
In collaboration, the City of Santa Clarita and the William S. Hart Union High School District
do support and cooperate with the Hart District Regional Occupational Program, who will
develop and implement the curriculum for an Advanced TV/Video Productidn Class.
WHEREAS, California is developing an educational system in the public schools that will
provide all students a successful transition from school -to -work.
WHEREAS, the development of school -business partnerships is vital in this process to ensure
the best possible opportunities and experiences for students in school and in the work place.
WHEREAS, school -to -career transition programs are designed to provide all students with the
opportunity to learn to be economically independent and socially productive in a global society.
WHEREAS, school -to -career programs are organized into program sequences leading to career
paths for students.
WHEREAS, the television and video production industry is one of the fastest growing industries
in Southern California and provides a viable career path for students.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT IN COLLABORATION EFFORT, THE CITY
OF SANTA CLARITA AND THE WILLIAM S. HART UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT are
establishing a school -business partnership for the purpose of:
SECTION 1: Providing the necessary resources and support for developing and implementing
an advanced TV/Video Production class which will lead to a regularly scheduled
"student produced" television show to be aired on the public access channels in
the Santa Clarita Valley.
SECTION 2: Providing the students participating in the class with information on community
issues and programs focusing on the youth of the Santa Clarita Valley.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
